How long is the tentative approval of a tract map good for?

The life of an approved tentative tract map is for an initial period of thirty-six (36) months from the effective date of its approval. An applicant or their representative may also request up to three (3) extensions of time, the total of which cannot exceed thirty-six (36) months. Additional extensions can be obtained through map phasing with eligible off-site improvements. Such extensions cannot extend the life of the map more than ten (10) years from its initial approval. Statutory extensions are also occasionally granted by the State allowing additional time to record the final map.
